Author: shelley oakden

There's been a recent issue with schools making their payment to Scottish Power, but the invoice not being tied up with the account.    In order to avoid this Scottish Power have asked that when making the payment if the Invoice Number and Account Number can be clearly identified.

If there are any issues please contact Shelley Oakden - shelley.oakden@walsall.gov.uk

changes to Gas / Electricity contract wef April 2020

Author: shelley oakden

Walsall Council, with effect from April 2020, have procured an energy brokerage service to manage and purchase all council gas and electric services.

Moving forward we are inviting all independent and 3rd party sectors who currently purchase energy through the Council contracts to meet with a representative from the energy brokerage company (the Consultus Group) and Facilities Management to get a better understanding of the new process that will be implemented.

The meeting will be held at 10am, and 2pm on 28 November 2019 at Walsall Town Hall where the energy broker will present the processes and options for a new contract.  The new contracts for both electricity and gas will be managed and agreed in the same method as the current gas contract, all 3rd party and independent sites will sign individual contracts with the supplier.

Please confirm attendance or non-attendance to this meeting by 26 November 2019 to Shelley Oakden (shelley.oakden@walsall.gov.uk).

If you fail to notify Walsall Council, Integrated Facilities Management Team by 15 January 2020 of your intention with regard to energy supplies from April 2020 onwards it will be presumed you are sourcing alternative arrangements.

Gas Contract wef April 2019

Author: shelley oakden

Further to the article on the Gas & Electricity contract dated 4 March 2019 I realise that approximately 50% of schools have responded.  However, for those that have not I would like to highlight that unless arrangements are entered into your gas supply will transfer to the Standard Variable Rate on the 1.4.19.

For clarification of the discounted rate please contact ESPO direct.   Alternatively if we can be of any assistance please do not hesitate to contact Shelley Oakden on 01922 652596.

Gas / Electricity Contract wef April 2019

Author: shelley oakden

Dear  Colleague,

Information on New Gas Energy Contracts

Walsall council have agreed to extend the current utilities contract for a 12 month period. Prices will be confirmed shortly once the final documentation has been agreed and signed. The contract terms will remain the same as the previous year. The Unit rate information will be published via the school link portal. An estimated 12% increase is predicated due to the market conditions for both gas and electricity, once we have received an accurate figure we will update all parties.

Moving forward Walsall Council are employing an energy brokerage to review the energy portfolio, usage patterns and to develop a long term energy strategy. This information will assist in the procurement of new gas and electricity contracts from April 2020 for up to a 4 to 5 year period.

Further communications will be sent out once units rates have been agreed, the gas supplier Total Gas and Power via ESPO will be sending out contracts for the new 12 month contract. We request that when schools sign the documents and return them to Total Gas and Power a copy for confirmation purposes is sent to Walsall Councils IFM team at energy@walsall.gov.uk. This will enable us to have accurate information for when the new long term contracts are developed.

The electricity contract will remain as is via Walsall Council. If a school wishes not to renew the electric contract through the Council then we will require notification no later than the 13 March 2019, there will be no exit available from the contract until the end of the 12 month period. If we have no notification it will be presumed that the school wishes to remain within the council’s electric contract provision.

Your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.
