The School Admissions Code (2014) requires each local authority to have a Fair Access Protocol. The main purpose of the protocol is to ensure that - outside the normal admissions round - unplaced children, especially the most vulnerable are offered a place at a suitable school as quickly as possible. The protocol is also intended to ensure that all Walsall schools admit their fair share of pupils with challenging behaviour including pupils excluded from other schools who are ready for reintegration back into a mainstream placement.
The revised Secondary Fair Access Protocol has now been in operation since October 2016 and the next meeting of the Fair Access Panel will take place on Wednesday 14 December 2016.
A copy of the protocol is attached to this page together with procedure notes which explain the process to be followed to make a referral to the Fair Access Panel .
A database which shows the total number of pupils placed in each school under the protocol is attached.
If you have any questions about the operation of the protocol please contact the Admissions and Pupil Place Planning Team (01922 652585)
