Sexting- Important new guidance

The UK Council for Child Internet Safety (UKCCIS) has produced guidance/advice “Sexting in Schools and Colleges – Responding to Incidents and Safeguarding Young People”, a copy is attached. It is designed for designated safeguarding leads (DSLs), their deputies, headteachers and senior leadership teams in schools and other educational establishments.

This advice is non-statutory and should be read alongside the Department for Education’s (DfE) “Keeping Children Safe in Education” statutory guidance and non-statutory “Searching, Screening and Confiscation” advice for schools.

The information contained covers a variety of issues that schools have discussed with MASH on a regular basis and explores the legal context, agency responsibility, how to handle and record concerns, plus examples of case studies to be used to improve awareness of the issue.

Please ensure that this document is clearly referenced in associated policies such as E Safety, Anti Bullying etc.
