ABOUT US
Safeguarding in Education and Early Years
The aim of the Safeguarding in Education Team (SIET) is to provide a service offering information and advice on a range of safeguarding issues to schools, early years settings and other education professionals.
The work is informed by best practice, latest research/guidance and statutory section 11 safeguarding audits eg a template for a Child Protection Policy. We collate the latest DfE/Home Office Guidance and policy.
We offer advice and challenge relating to individual cases, assist with the formulation and implementation of safeguarding policies and work closely with colleagues from education and partner agencies on issues relating to internet safety, bullying, young people at risk of sexual exploitation, preventing extremism and all other policies that support safeguarding being embedded within a school, academy or educational setting.
A significant part of our role is to provide safeguarding training for all school staff to ensure that all staff are aware of their roles and responsibilities for safeguarding, including level 1 Safeguarding Children and Young People, Level 2 Advanced Child Protection, Safer Recruitment training and other courses that are required due to local and national issues or identified by our schools and academies.
We will continue to develop the safeguarding workshops during the academic year relating to topics suggested by you, new guidance/legislation. The workshops are aimed at Designated Safeguarding Leads within schools.
