Support Staff - The Way Forward

Guidance for Support Staff including job profiles.

Guidance has been agreed by the National Joint Council (NJC) for Local Government Services, designed to help schools and LEAs in their efforts to remodel the schools’ workforce. The guidance includes job profiles covering three “families” of support staff roles; advice on employing school support staff on on fixed term contracts of employment and advice on training and development for support staff.The job profiles provide a starting point for local decisions to determine salary structures derived from the NJC’s salary spine, which accurately reflect support staff roles and responsibilities both within and outside of the classroom. The table below has links to the job profile for that particular family/level. The NJC has also produced a profile summary table and joint general guidance notes.
