Our service at a glance

The Safeguarding in Education team provides challenge and support to schools on all  aspects of safeguarding to promote safe learning environments for childrens learning and development. We offer training on safeguarding and child protection and provide the option of audits, support with embedding the most current guidance/legislation, model policies and presentations in addition to regular workshops to develop strategies to cope with the demands of fulfilling the role of being a Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Some of the services that schools will receive throughout the year:

• Invite to termly Safeguarding Workshops
• Annual offer of advanced child protection training
• Overview of changes for updated guidance and legislation (i.e. Keeping Children Safe in Education, Working Together to Safeguard Children)
• Annual updated model Child Protection policy
• Safer Recruitment training
• Annual presentation for level 1 Safeguarding Children and Young People
• Regular sharing of good practice across schools
• Regular support with embedding the Ofsted Inspection Framework requirements for safeguarding

Ofsted’s inspection of safeguarding in early years, education and skills settings has seen changes in the way we safeguard, the Safeguarding in Education team supports schools to deliver systems to embed procedures/understanding of:

• Prevent agenda
• Peer on Peer abuse
• Child Sexual Exploitation
• Governance of Safeguarding
• Safeguarding children who have special educational needs and/or disabilities
• Safer recruitment checks
• Female Genital Mutilation
