We will continue with our collaborative approach between Public Health and Education Departments in the Council to support education settings in partnership with Public Health England. The updated guidance on this page will detail how this will work from the Autumn term (2021/2022).
Following the publication of updated guidance for education settings for the autumn term please read a letter from Stephen Gunther and Sharon Kelly setting out the changes and the approach we are encouraging in Walsall.
In reviewing your risk assessments we would encourage you to maintain COVID secure measures that have proven effective including maintaining effective hygiene routines, ensuring effective ventilation and following current public health advice around testing and self-isolation. Whilst nationally the threshold for reporting COVID cases has changed we would encourage you to continue to report cases as previously and speak to the on call team about any issues or concerns.
We are very supportive of any setting who chooses to continue to follow good practice such as using consistent groupings, staggered start and finish times and minimising bringing parents onto site.
